Our talented metal scribe Aris Wales just stormed into the office, ripped off my headphones (guess he's not a Belle and Sebastian The BBC Sessions fan), and made me listen to Black Death. Formed in 1977 by strangely named vocalist and lead guitarist Siki Spacek, Ohio's Black Death arguably hold the distinction of being the world's first all-African-American heavy metal band.
Wow. Evidently Black Death records are hard to come by (I couldn't find information on any of them, although there is a more prolific Russian band with the same name), so we'll have to settle for YouTube clips and the single greatest band photo ever.
