While the NBA's official schedule announcement isn't supposed to be released until sometime later, some details have emerged. The Blazers will play seven preseason games, including one home game in their former digs at Memorial Coliseum. They did this last year against Phoenix and it was a blast, even if the players refused to wear old school short shorts.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Trail Blazers have announced their seven-game preseason schedule today, highlighted by a return to Memorial Coliseum for an exhibition against the Utah Jazz on Oct. 11.

Fans will have the chance to relive Rip City for the second straight year when Portland hosts Utah at the arena the Trail Blazers called home from 1970 to 1995.

Portland will take the first steps in building on last year’s 50-win season when it opens up the preseason slate with a home game against the L.A. Clippers on Tuesday, Oct. 5. The preseason opener is one of four home games and one of three at the Rose Garden. The Trail Blazers close out their exhibition schedule on Oct. 21, with a home game against the Denver Nuggets.

Preseason road games for the Trail Blazers include back-to-back contests at Utah and Denver on Oct. 7 and 8, followed by a visit to Golden State on Oct. 16.

The team will hold its popular Wells Fargo Fan Fest on Friday, Oct. 1. The intra-squad scrimmage is free to the public and tickets will be available at Wells Fargo stores in Oregon and SW Washington on Sept. 6.

Once we hear more details on the regular season schedule, we'll post them here.

Oh, that was quick. According to this site, the Phoenix Suns will open the 2010-11 season at the Rose Garden against the Blazers. No date was given for this game. But we're getting there...
