There are only three things I'm ever anywhere before 9 am to do: exercise, travel, or unlocking the door of the Mercury office so the rather large crew shooting Portlandia can have their way with us. It was for the latter reason that I arrived at work at 7:15 am this morning—that's right, 7:15 am!—an arrival time that I think even beats the record of that teetotaler/former news editor Matt Davis. They began setting up their billions of tons of equipment at 7:30, only to receive a call at around 9 am informing them that there had been some change in the script, and they would not be filming in our beautiful offices today. They have, however, surrounded the building with big trucks and power cords that are running off Mercury electricity, and our reception lobby has become a holding area for television extras, all of which I'm sure is covered under the location agreement I signed off on shortly before 8 am. And hey, that's fine, they can use us as their headquarters, but I will be visiting the craft services truck multiple times over the course of the day. This was my last haul:

This is probably the least healthful meal I've had in months, but if I'm going to have my bi-annual serving of Corn Nuts on top of a triple-whammy carbo load, it's going to be on Portlandia's dime, dammit! (We have no idea if we've been written out of the script altogether or just out of the current film schedule. All I know is I'm going to leave a bit early today.)
