Portland Sewing is currently accepting applications from Portland-area high school juniors and seniors for school year 2010-11 for the Elizabeth Marie Scholarship, which entails $1,000 worth of fashion design classes meant to prepare students for acceptance into design college. Named for a Holocaust refugee who came to Portland and became one of the first pattern drafting teachers at PCC, the scholarship also includes a spot blogging on the Portland Sewing's website and the chance to intern at Nike. The original deadline of August 17 has been pushed back to August 31 (by 5 pm, kiddos), so spread the word to an aspiring fashion designer near you. Submit your entry to “Elisabeth Marie Fashion Design Competition” c/o Portland Sewing, P.O. Box 18147, Portland OR 97218. Selection and notification of the winner will be made by September 17, 2010.
