The news comes in advance of Starfucker's next album which is due out early next year on Polyvinyl. Before then, they'll release the single "Julius" (digital on 9/14, blue vinyl 7" on 10/12), a club-ready song that will appear in different form on the album, which was recorded in part in main Fucker Josh Hodges' bedroom, and in part at the Dandy Warhols' studio the Odditorium with producer Jacob Portrait. Take a peep at the single's cover art.
And it seems the ill-advised days of the moniker change to Pyramiddd are long gone. From the press release:
Explains bassist Shawn Glassford [of the name change], "That was definitely the low point for the band, but we wised up and took the power back. We're doing things our way again without anyone trying to pull our strings."Starfucker kicks off their biggest tour yet with the Octopus Project in Boise on September 23. They come home to the Roseland on October 20. While you are impatiently waiting for that day to arrive, take a listen to "Julius."As Hodges admits, "I like, and have always liked, the idea of seeing what we could do with a stupid name like Starfucker."
