Dad's on drums!! Squid Attack (oh sorry, Squid Attack!) are a mostly young local rock trio consisting of bassist Panda (Animal Collective's Noah Lennox does not approve), singer/guitarist Isaac Scott, and his father Sid Scott on drums. They join such other famous father/son bands as Mystery Jets, Spanic Boys, '60s rockers Spirit, David Crosby's CPR, and the latest incarnation of Van Halen (I think Gary Cherone's kid is in it).
But dad behind the kit is no gimmick, and the band's 3 More debut EP is a pretty solid foundation to build from. The band is touring Hawthorne Blvd. in the coming months, playing the Hawthorne Theatre on Sept 19 and the Hawthorne Burgerville on Oct 12. I'd make a joke about them playing the Hawthorne Strip next, but that would just be awkward.
