Last night I got thrashed. No, I don’t mean that I had one too many whiskey sodas. It means I went down to Dante’s to witness the musical/kind of interpretive dance/video reenactment with floating heads of 1986 cult skateboarding classic Thrashin’. The second the curtain went up to the second it ended I was trapped in a 1980’s fashion déjà vu. Around the time that movie was released, my older brother got his first board and the world of T&C Surf, Body Glove, hats with flipped up brims, and two-tone sunglasses all became part of my world. But not until this musical did I realize how much I had missed them! Neon everywhere actually seemed okay in my mind (alright, that might have been the whiskey sodas talking). The clothing in the production is pretty much spot on, right down to the one dangly earring the boys sport. The whole thing was so damn entertaining I think if you grew up around '80’s fashion you should get down there and see it. Dante's, 1 SW 3rd Ave 10 pm Saturday, Aug 18 and 21, 8 pm Sunday, Aug. 22. $10.
