Calvin Marshall makes it's Portland debut at the Living Room Theatre starting on August 27. It's a small-budget baseball flick—with a promising trailer—filmed in Oregon (Ashland and Medford, to be exact), but it does have have some big name stars in it. Well, it has Steve Zahn and that one guy from The Drew Carey Show.
That counts, right?
But even more impressive than the cast is the excellent original soundtrack and score local musician John Askew assembled for the film. The National, Jandek (!), Rosie Thomas are all there, plus tons of Portland bands as well: Spoon, Wow and Flutter, Richmond Fontaine, Clampitt, Gaddis and Buck, and more. Nice to see independent film and music come together like this.
End Hits: This is a way better soundtrack than Major League 3: Back to the Minors had.
