Recently I was introduced to HoBo Design, the work of Jill Raymundo and James Haas, who construct clean-lined furnishings from reclaimed and sustainable wood in their SE Portland studio in an "old milking parlor barn." I'm not sure what that is, but it sounds like the perfect setting for the gorgeous, but simple pieces. There's a lot of hype around Scandinavian-style decorating these days, and many of their blonder designs would be right at home in that type of neutral-toned, light filled setting, though they're versatile enough not to be limiting. My favorites are the ones that embrace natural combinations of light and dark gradients:
