Culturally, I feel as if Portland and Miami may be on opposite ends of the universe instead of the country. The bright colors, the tans, the music, and bikinis all seem so foreign to this pale Pacific Northwesterner, who grew up on classic rock and likes to plunge into a mountain lake. My often sun-starved brain cannot even wrap itself around the concept that in Miami the swimsuit is such a staple of the every day wardrobe that it necessitates an entire fashion week devoted to little bits of Lycra. And somehow that makes it all the more intriguing. Below are some snippets from Mercedes-Benz Swim Week.
