You've got all your dates straight, right? That means you know it's First Wednesday, and therefore time again for another installment of Comedy Is OK, Portland's marvelous, monthly stand up showcase. But hold the phone there, Smarty Pants! Comedy is OK is moving into some sweet new digs at the new Helium Comedy Club (SE 9th & Hawthorne). So now when hosts Mikey Kampmann and (Mercury intern) Andrew Michaan step up on stage they will no longer be lit like they're telling scary stories.
For this month's edition they've got some killer talent, including 2010 Portland Amateur Comedy Contest winner Ian Karmel, along with the terrific Christian Rickets, Paul Schlesinger and Shane Torres. The boys have also lined up a handful of videos which they produced with the help of the Into The Woods crew.
It looks like Kampmann and Michaan are also branching out to bring us some straight journalism. Check out their expose on food troughs, a response to the city's ever-growing collection carts and pods. Food troughs, according to Kampmann, are "Portland's newest local food craze." Behold:
