Another happy Sunday to you, and happy August.

BP is about to try and seal its well using a "static kill..." meanwhile, nobody can find any oil. That's because they doused it with dispersants, and it's at the bottom of the sea, which BP says is OK.

For your daily dose of infuration: a CNN spot asks, "Was the BP spill overblown?," preceded by a BP ad saying everything will be okay. They're trolling for controversy. It worked on me. I'm a sucker.

Robert Gates joins the tide of administration officials lamely condemning the WikiLeaks documents.

...and the Dutch get the hell uit of Afghanistan.

In perhaps not unrelated news, the US gives up on trying to win over Afghan civilians and concentrate on "targeted killings."

Businessmen in the United Arab Emirates will have to put down those CrackBerries... 'cause they're getting banned.

Ron Wyden takes a break from his sheltered New York lifestyle to come get shocked by the sight of a 15-year-old prostitute in Portland. Good on ya, Ron.
